Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) In Burlington

Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) In Burlington

Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), sometimes referred to as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), is one of the most effective treatments available for many symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. MHT works by replacing hormones that naturally decline during the menopausal transition, helping to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort

Benefits of Menopausal Hormone Therapy

Effective Relief of Hot Flashes and Night Sweats

MHT is considered the most effective treatment for vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats.

Improved Sleep and Quality of Life

Many individuals report improvements in sleep, daytime energy, concentration, and overall well-being once symptoms are adequately managed.

Support for Vaginal and Urinary Health

Estrogen therapy can help improve vaginal dryness, tissue health, sexual comfort, and certain urinary symptoms.

Bone Health Support

MHT can help reduce bone loss that occurs during and after menopause, supporting long-term skeletal health.

Individualized Treatment Options

Treatment can be tailored to your needs and may include oral medications, transdermal patches, gels, vaginal therapies, progesterone, or other evidence-based options when appropriate.

Considerations

Not Everyone Requires Hormone Therapy

Some individuals manage menopausal symptoms effectively through lifestyle changes, non-hormonal therapies, or other treatment approaches.

Individual Risk Assessment Is Important

The benefits and risks of MHT vary depending on factors such as age, medical history, family history, timing since menopause, and personal treatment goals.

Treatment Is Personalized

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Recommendations are based on your symptoms, health history, laboratory findings when indicated, and individual preferences.

Ongoing Monitoring Is Recommended

Regular follow-up appointments help ensure treatment remains safe, effective, and aligned with your evolving health needs.

Who Is Most Likely to Benefit?

MHT may be appropriate for:

  • Individuals experiencing moderate to severe menopausal symptoms
  • Those whose symptoms are affecting sleep, work performance, relationships, or quality of life
  • Individuals seeking treatment for bothersome hot flashes or night sweats
  • Those experiencing symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), including vaginal dryness, discomfort, or urinary symptoms
  • Individuals looking to support bone health when appropriate
